Sriracha Chicken with Zoodles

Flavourful Sriracha chicken made with an easy, not too sweet garlic, brown sugar, Sriracha sauce, served with zucchini noodles – delicious Asian dinner right from your kitchen! {gluten free, dairy free, clean eating}

This chicken recipe is not the original sweet and spicy honey Sriracha sauce recipe, it’s less sweet, but it’s spicy, garlicky and very delicious. I love the original recipe as well, but on the weekdays we are eating low-carb, so I tried to transform it to be more appropriate for us. So we get this not too sweet but flavourful marinated chicken recipe which I served with zoodles.

My sauce/marinade was made with hot Asian Sriracha sauce, garlic powder, soy sauce and brown sugar. In a medium size bowl mix together the sauce ingredients, then add the bite-size chicken breast cubes, coat them well with the marinade and place into the refrigerator for half an hour. In a large skillet sear the marinated chicken, while the meat is cooking prepare the zucchini noodles, when ready serve the saucy chicken over the cooked zucchini noodles and season the dish with sesame seeds.

You can made the chicken sweeter or hotter, your choice. I chose to prepare the traditional honey Sriracha chicken less sweet, but more spicy. I didn’t add honey to the marinade, just simply replaced it with brown sugar. So my sauce wasn’t as sweet as the original one, but for us it was just perfectly good.

This dinner recipe is simple, quick and easy: this spicy chicken is cooked in less than 30 minutes and the zoodles are ready in 5 minutes, plus allow at least 30 minutes (up to 3 hours) to marinate the chicken breast. Enjoy my not too sticky and no too sweet, but perfectly spicy and moderately hot chicken dinner!

Ingredients
  • 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts cubed
  • 2 tbsp Sriracha sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar (or honey)
  • 1½ tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • salt
  • black pepper
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 medium zucchini
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
Let's get started!
  1. Cut the chicken breasts into bite-size pieces, season them with salt and pepper to taste.
  2. Combine the Sriracha sauce with the soy sauce, garlic powder and brown sugar until well combined, then pour the sauce on the chicken cubes, cover them and marinade the chicken for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
  3. Heat one tablespoon olive oil in skillet, then add the marinaded chicken breasts. On medium heat sear the chicken, stirring occasionally until is cooked through.
  4. While the chicken is cooking, prepare the zucchini noodles, using a spiralizer.
  5. In a large skillet heat on tablespoon olive oil on medium heat, then add the zoodles and cook them for 2-3 minutes, season with salt and garlic powder.
  6. Serve the Sriracha chicken over the zoodles and season them with sesame seeds.
